Home Run!

Jon Mark, last Saturday, hit a Home Run in Select Ball practice on the Pony Field! It traveled about 305 feet! He was really excited and hopes that more follow.

The ones he hit in Little League were back-to-back jacks off of Craig Cochran in All-Star practice in June, which went about 210 feet.

Leona Lewis

"Better In Time"
It's been the longest winter without you
I didn't know where to turn to
See somehow I can't forget you
After all that we've been through

Going coming thought I heard a knock
Who's there no one
Thinking that I deserve it
Now I realize that I really didn't know
If you didn't notice you mean everything
Quickly I'm learning to love again
All I know is I'm gonna be OK

[Chorus:]
Thought I couldn't live without you
It's gonna hurt when it heals too
It'll all get better in time
And even though I really love you
I'm gonna smile cause I deserve to
It'll all get better in time

I couldn't turn on the TV
Without something there to remind me
Was it all that easy
To just put aside your feelings

If I'm dreaming don't wanna laugh
Hurt my feelings but that's the path
I believe in
And I know that time will heal it
If you didn't notice boy you meant everything
Quickly I'm learning to love again
All I know is I'm gonna be OK

[Chorus:]
Thought I couldn't live without you
It's gonna hurt when it heals too
It'll all get better in time
And even though I really love you
I'm gonna smile cause I deserve to
It'll all get better in time

Since there's no more you and me
It's time I let you go
So I can be free
And live my life how it should be
No matter how hard it is I'll be fine without you
Yes I will

[Chorus: X2]

This British singer and songwriter has captured my attention lately with two hits on the radio..."Bleeding Love" and "Better In Time". They have a nice rhythm and vocal flow. I love her voice!

Quote of the Day

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass; as much as it is learning to dance in the rain." - Bethany Santiago

Hospitality

Chris & Laura Truitt, the Youth Pastor of my church (San Jacinto Church) and our kids; have opened their home to me for four days until I move into Steve V.'s upstairs rooms. I washed four loads of laundry, drank two Cokes, ate cereal and drank their coffee - they said as long as I am in their house, I am in their family.

True hospitality!

Questions for the Heart

These I ripped from today's devotion in "My Utmost For His Highest":

- Does everything in my life fill God's heart with gladness?

- Do I complain when things do not seem to go my way?

- Has my life this week been a good reflection on his reputation?

- Am I so in love with Jesus that I take no thought for where he may lead me?

- Do I allow shame and humiliation create in me Godly sorrow, which leads to true repentance?

These I should ask daily...good stuff and hard to answer!

The President of Change

President Obama is a pioneer that will send change waves throughtout the land of the free. He is following a fine President Bush who maintained our security, armed forces, and led us through a troubled time of war.

Let us pray for President Obama, along with President Bush (both of them), President Clinton, and President Carter.

Vision & Darkness

When God unveils a vision, a picture or sketch of what will be or could be; sometimes it is followed by a closing of the window, silence, or perhaps even darkness.

It is in this time that many give up on the hope, turn to despair, or return to the visionless life they were living. I have been given a chance to see what could be or maybe what will be. But after a couple of months of this new reality, the door was shut. I was faced with many questions and doubt.

Yesterday, I was given the revelation of a new hope, the idea of waiting til the darkness fades to light. Then the sketch will unfold. So I wait...

A.D.D. & The Lightning Thief

This paragraph on page 11 of the book, "The Lightning Thief" sums it up well for me:

"I have moments like that a lot, when my brain falls asleep or something, and the next thing I know I've missed something, as if a puzzle piece fell out of the universe and left me staring at the blank place behind it. The school counselor told me this was part of the ADHD, my brain misinterpreting things."

HA! This is exactly what I deal with on a daily basis!

Jodie Meeks!

Dan Issel scored 53 points in 1970 that stood for 39 years! Until last night, Jodie Meeks scored 54 against Tennessee, in Knoxville! He went 15-22 FG, 10-15 3PT, 14-14 FT...simply amazing shooting!

He is also a very good defensive player and came into the game averaging 24 pts a game.

Tony Dungy: A Winner

Tony Dungy resigned from being the Head Coach of the NFL Colts. He has not only been a great coach but also a great person. His greatness shined in the aftermath a couple years ago in the wake of his son's suicide.

I am impressed and moved by this man's commitment and heart.

Kentucky

Land of the Feebacks, with the exception of Florida and Texas! My home, heritage, and roots. God's country. Horses, small towns, and Bluegrass.
